More Congregation Thoughts

As I continue to work on The 2009 Music Ministry Marketing Guide, I’ve come to understand some concepts a lot better. As I had previously written about The Millionaire Artist, I still think that it is possible, even in an extremely niche situation, to find some success in the marketplace. This idea, however, is now backed with a more realistic model to go along with the revamped 12-month millionaire method.

I figure that a more strategic model is in order, and a more defined approach to putting up numbers will probably allow for more continued success for artists.

Just a Few Resources:

  1. The Gospel Music Association – promotion of gospel music.
  2. The Dove Awards – Tennessee in April, 2009
  3. The Gospel Music Channel - 24-hour music station dedicated to Gospel Music.

Congregation Metrics

While continuing to write the Music Marketing Guide for 2009-2010, I’ve found some very interesting statistics concerning the congregations that are predominately black in the Southern and Northeastern regions of the United States of America.

  1. Of the 13,700 total congregations of the Church of Christ located stateside, there are only 91 predominately black congregations with 300 members or more.
  2. There are 103,358 members attending 998 congregations in the southern and northeastern regions of the United States.
  3. In the southern and Northeastern regions of the US, there are four states which have no predominately black congregations of the Church of Christ (Maine, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, Vermont).
  4. There are 3 states with at least 100 congregations in the 2 regions studied – Alabama (118), Tennessee (141), & Texas (231).
  5. There are 7 states which have fewer than 10 congregations statewide – Connecticut (2), Massachusetts (3), New Jersey (9), Pennsylvania (6), Delaware (2), Virginia (7), and West Virginia (1).

Some Youtube Goodness

There are a lot of things about the internet to love, perhaps none more than the little creation I like to call Youtube. It’s like a continuous scavenger hunt with me trying to find all of the Christian Acappella Music Videos I can, in hopes of, well, I just want to see performances.

So, Here’s is the first set of all I can find pertaining to Christian Acappella Music on the Tube.

Youth Conference Marketing

I just finished a first draft of the 2009 Youth Conference marketing poster. There’s still a lot of work to be done on it, but overall, I think it’s a solid first draft.

2009 Youth Conference

I got a call from Ritz recently asking me to put together some marketing materials for the 2009 Florida Statewide Youth For Christ Conference in Orlando.

I’m thinking that a nice red poster and matching postcard should suffice.

We’ll See.

CAMA Souvenir Booklets

I’m working on rebranding all of my previous work for NACAMA and in doing so, I figure I may as well release the souvenir booklets from the 2006 & 2008 Christian Acappella Music Award programs.

Tuesday Evening Goodness

While I continue to pursue new paths with my Layby package, I also continue to seek out new entries for this website, and therefore, today I present to all, The Committed Acappella Chorus.

Another look at layby management

Back when I wrote my first post about Layby management, I was really just beginning to hit the surface on what I really thought could be done. I’ve since done more research on various implementations and variations on the set, both paper and digital forms. Which basically brings me back to the reason for this new post.

I’ve thought about how to make the system more user friendly. In looking at the current state, I’ve decided that the best way to make things as accessible as possible, I should build an application that will allow the process of filling out the form pretty much automated.

We’ll see how the whole system begins to come together once I have the prototype of the forms.

A Resolution

I’ve given a lot of thought recently to the idea of new years resolutions. Personally, I’ve never been one to take those things seriously until just now. As I look back on the events of 2008, I can’t help but to think that it was the single most tumultuous year of my life; just a lot of ups and downs throughout the year and never a loose moment where I could really catch myself. These past two weeks resting at my parent s house have allowed me to think of how I would like to approach the new year, and in that sense, I figure that My new years resolution would be a simple one, though complex in nature: Try to find a better way.

I’ve figured that the resolution of seeking to find a better way involves actually examining the situations that arise and trying to formulate a plan as to how I can solve them.

Another resolution, of course, is to write more. We’ll see how that goes throughout the coming days, weeks, and months.
